RTMG Performance has released a Torsen limited slip differential designed for the DSG DQ250 transmission of the VW Group. This Type A Torsen differential utilizes helical gears and functions similarly to a conventional differential, with the added capability to lock up in response to torque imbalances.

During acceleration under asymmetric traction conditions, the Torsen differential ensures that as long as the higher traction side can manage the increased torque, no relative wheelspin will occur. However, when the traction difference surpasses the Torsen Bias Ratio (TBR), the slower output side receives tractive torque from the faster wheel, amplified by the TBR. Any remaining torque contributes to the angular acceleration of the faster output side.

The RTMG DQ250 Torsen differential significantly enhances performance for vehicles equipped with DSG transmissions, which typically feature short gear ratios that can lead to wheelspin. This differential effectively mitigates such issues, making it an excellent choice for both street and track applications.
