The Multi-Port Regulator (MPR) is an effective solution for both simple and complex high-flow fuel systems. Its unique port configuration allows for the combination of dual fuel pumps into a single feed line or the splitting of a single feed line to a dual bank fuel system with two fuel rails. It can also be utilized for single pump or single fuel rail applications by plugging the unused ports.
MOUNTING
This regulator offers various mounting options. Wall mounting can be achieved using the M6 holes that pass through the regulator body, or the included mounting bracket can be used for floor mounting. M6x1mm hardware is provided.
PLUMBING
The regulator can be plumbed in multiple configurations to accommodate different installations, including traditional flow-through or dead-head systems. This flexibility eliminates the need for an additional 'Y' fitting. The lower two opposing return ports flow parallel with the pressure ports, negating the need for elbow fittings. Either lower port can be used for the return line, and plugs are provided for any unused ports.
FUEL PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT
RA-series regulators feature tool-less pressure adjustment, eliminating the need for a jam nut and set screw. Pressure can be easily adjusted with a simple turn of the knob. Additionally, there are no inherent air leaks through the threads that would typically be detected by a smoke detector.
Incremental detents provide haptic feedback during pressure adjustment, allowing for 1psi (+/-0.5psi) of adjustment based on the current fuel pressure.
FUEL PRESSURE STABILITY
With extensive track and bench testing, the RA-series regulators have been optimized for pressure management. A newly designed single stainless steel return orifice generates laminar flow, enhancing stability control.
- Minimum Pressure: 18.5psi (1.3bar)
- Maximum Pressure: *N/A
*The maximum pressure is dependent on the relief valve inside the pump or the maximum current allowed by the fuel pump controller.
ABOUT FUEL PRESSURE DROP AFTER SHUTOFF
It is normal for some installations to experience a rapid drop in fuel pressure when the engine or fuel pump shuts off. This occurs due to the diaphragm seat and return orifice not fully sealing when fuel flow stops. The design of these components allows for high fuel flow rates, which can result in larger sealing surfaces that do not form a perfect seal. This is not indicative of a defect and does not require technical support. Fuel pressure will reset immediately when the fuel pump is activated again.
If the engine shows symptoms such as long cranking to start or delays in pressure building, these issues are likely unrelated to the regulator and may indicate a problem with the fuel feed hose or an internal leak in the pump module.
1:1 RISING RATE VACUUM REFERENCE
RA-series regulators feature a 360-degree swiveling vacuum reference port that is double O-ring sealed, allowing for quick adjustment without tools. Four interchangeable 10-32 threaded vacuum port fittings are included:
- Barbed Fitting: A black zinc-plated 3/16' (5mm) barb compatible with 5/32' (4mm), 3/16' (5mm), and 7/32' (6mm) vacuum hoses.
- 3AN Male Fitting: A black zinc-plated adapter compatible with 3AN hose ends.
- Push-To-Connect: A nickel-plated brass fitting compatible with hard plastic 1/4' OD tubing.
- Vacuum Plug: A black oxide stainless steel screw used to maintain constant fuel pressure, suitable for returnless fuel systems.
Note: It is recommended to use a wicking medium-strength threadlocker when installing the vacuum fitting.
FUEL COMPATIBILITY
All RA-series regulators are compatible with all gasoline types, including unleaded, leaded, oxygenated, and pre-mixes, as well as alcohol blends such as methanol, ethanol, and E85.
