Exceptions
- Z4, X3 may have 188L (168L) differential type, though catalog may show 188K (168K).
- All models produced after 2008 may have 188LW, though catalog may show 188L.
- E36 Compact (2000 production year) may have 188K, though catalog may show 188mm.
Key Installation Notes
- Inspect the inner surface of small spider gears before installation. If not smooth, machining is required for optimal results.
- BMW models produced after 2008 have a welded ring gear. For LSD installation, including RacingDiffs, this ring gear must be machined off.
