ZRP, in collaboration with Wiseco, has developed a new series of pistons crafted in the USA from 2618 alloy, designed for extreme high horsepower setups. These pistons feature upgraded pins with a wall thickness of 5.34mm and an Armor Plating piston coating that mitigates the adverse effects of high heat in turbo and nitrous/methanol applications. Each ZRP piston includes an ArmorGlide anti-friction skirt coating to minimize scuffing during break-in and reduce friction against the cylinder wall. The pistons are made from dedicated in-house forgings, ensuring a lightweight design with superior strength. The valve pockets are larger and deeper than OEM specifications to accommodate high-lift camshafts. Additionally, the pistons are equipped with offset pins and gas-pressure and anti-detonation grooves to enhance ring longevity.

Armor Plating Piston Coating

The Armor Plating Coating provides a bronze tint on the top and wrist pin bore. This abrasion-resistant plating increases the hardness of the aluminum, enhances the durability of the ring grooves, prevents micro-welding of the piston rings, reduces carbon buildup, and combats corrosion from detonation. Furthermore, the Armor Plating coating lowers the piston crown temperature by an average of 20°C.

ArmorGlide Anti-Friction Skirt Coating

The ArmorGlide skirt coating is composed of a molybdenum solid film lubricant that is permanently bonded to the pistons. This coating enhances seizure resistance and reduces friction, ensuring quiet operation. It results in less piston rock, reduced noise, and increased power.
