The Power Management Unit (PMU) represents the latest in race car electronics, providing precise control and protection for critical vehicle systems. With 16 high-current outputs—expandable by integrating additional units—the PMU offers robust circuit protection, continuous current sensing, and automatic self-resetting if current exceeds defined thresholds. Output status, voltage, and current data are fully loggable and can be transmitted via CAN bus for real-time monitoring on dash displays, helping drivers and engineers identify potential issues quickly.

The PMU allows for advanced logic programming for output control, utilizing data from analog inputs or CAN bus channels, with math operations configurable per channel. Each output features an LED indicator for at-a-glance status. The use of CAN bus keypads or steering wheel switches significantly reduces wiring complexity and weight. Integrated accelerometer and gyro sensors enable logging and provide an “inertia switch” function for enhanced safety in the event of an accident.

Technology

PMUs are assembled to IPC-S-815A standards for reliability. Manufacturing includes automated assembly, optical inspection, and automated testing with burn-in procedures. The PCB employs high-quality materials, specialized surface coatings, and an IP65-rated enclosure to ensure durability in harsh environments. Carefully selected components guarantee reliable operation across a wide temperature range (AECQ-100 GRADE 1, -40 to +125˚C).
