CANchecked MFD15 Gen2 Display for Mazda MX-5 ND

The CANchecked MFD15 Gen2 is a compact 52 mm OLED display designed to keep key ECU and sensor data in view. The OLED screen remains readable even in direct sunlight. Operation is via two windshield-mounted push buttons, or optionally an external rotary knob. With its 52 mm outer diameter, it fits many common interior bezels even without a vehicle-specific mount.

WLAN access and oDSS

The MFD15 Gen2 can be accessed over WLAN for setup via smartphone or PC. Using oDSS, you can configure the display, upload a startup image, update the device, and log values (license required).

Supported values and protocols

The MFD15 Gen2 is compatible with ISO 11898-2 and SAE J2284. Available ECU data depends on what the ECU transmits over CAN and may be defined via documentation such as a DBC file (importable via DSS). Depending on the manufacturer, up to 64 sensors can be queried.

OBD2 queries over CAN (11-bit/29-bit) are supported, as well as vehicle-specific protocols such as UDS and TP2.

If an ECU is not listed, the appropriate TRI/TRX can be downloaded or requested from the database.

For VW/Audi vehicles from model year 2008, in-depth protocol-based queries are available, including values such as oil temperature, boost pressure, transmission temperature, cylinder-selective ignition angle return, high/low pressure, wastegate actuation, and more.

Internal LED (shift light / warning)

The internal LED can be configured as a shift light and as a warning indicator.

• Shift light: up to 8 colors and RPM limits can be assigned, plus a start point where flashing begins.
• Warning LED: min/max thresholds can be set per sensor in oDSS. When a sensor exceeds the configured range, the LED flashes in the selected color. During a warning, the shift light function is disabled.

Included with every delivery:

Up to six analog inputs support linear 0–5 V sensors and NTC sensors.

CANchecked sensors are preconfigured in the TRI/TRX files with the following defaults:

• AIN1: Temperature sensor
• AIN2: Type K EGT transducer
• AIN3: Pressure sensor 0–10 bar
• AIN4: Boost pressure sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute
• AIN5: Not preconfigured
• AIN6: Not preconfigured

A pre-assembled 4-way AIN harness can be used for connection. With the appropriate license, an ethanol sensor can also be connected directly to the display via a separate pin.

Additional licenses

Live Logging

With the Live Logging license, sensor data can be logged in oDSS and downloaded to a smartphone or PC. All sensors are logged, but for OBD and UDS only the currently displayed sensors are logged.

Flex Fuel (ethanol sensor directly to the display)

With the ethanol sensor license, an ethanol sensor can be connected directly to the display. A 10 kΩ pull-up resistor is required between 5 V and the signal line. Ethanol content and fuel temperature can be displayed and logged.

CAN switching and analog input forwarding

With the CAN Switching/AIN Forwarding license, the display buttons or rotary knob can be used to switch CAN functions, and analog input voltages can be forwarded onto the CAN bus.
