CANchecked MFD32 Gen2 for Audi A3/S3 8L (pre-FL)
The MFD32 Gen2 replaces the air vent with an integrated data display while still allowing airflow past the unit via the vehicle-specific bezel. It’s designed for straightforward installation, with illustrated instructions available for most displays.
Key features
- Vehicle-specific integration: Bezel design maintains vent airflow.
- CAN Bus readout: Access in-depth vehicle data similar to manufacturer diagnostic tools.
- Gear display: Via CAN Bus or calculated from speed and RPM.
- Touchscreen control: Page navigation using swipe gestures.
- Custom pages: Build your own layouts, add images, or use a start animation.
- Additional inputs: Up to 4 analog inputs plus direct ethanol sensor support.
- CAN switching: Use the display as a keypad and send custom CAN messages.
- Configurable alarms: Set warnings (e.g., an alert above 900°C exhaust gas temperature).
- Logging: Save logs to the internal SD card for later review.
- Performance meter: Measure 0–100, 100–200, and 0–200 times without extra hardware.
- DTC*: Read and clear faults for engine ECU, transmission, ABS, and all-wheel drive.
- Dimming*: Automatic dimming with the instrument panel.
Pages and layouts
- Delivered with predefined sample pages.
- Create and customize your own pages (up to 10).
- 20 widget types (e.g., sensor value, analogue pointer, YT diagram, speed bar, round display, vertical/horizontal bar).
- Drag-and-drop positioning and scalable widget sizing.
- Fully adjustable widget colours.
- Up to 64 widgets per page.
Display Setup Software (DSS)
DSS is used to customize the display, download and view log files, and use the integrated CAN logger. The integrated TRI Editor allows sensor configuration (CAN Bus or internal), including assigning min/max warning thresholds and renaming sensors.
Supported ECU values (examples)
The display supports CAN Bus data queries using UDS, TP2, and manufacturer-specific protocols. It is supplied with predefined TRI/TRX files that define the sensors to be queried (varies by engine). Missing values can be added later.
Temperatures
- Exhaust, coolant, oil, intake, outside, gasoline, DSG temperature
Pressures
- Boost, ambient, fuel pressure pre-feed pump, rail pressure actual/target
Lambda / mixture
- Lambda value, injection time, short-term lambda adjustment, long-term lambda adjustment
Other
- RPM, air mass, vehicle speed, throttle angle, total ignition angle, ignition angle retraction per cylinder, N75 timing (%), terminal 30 voltage, torque, gear, diesel-specific values
Connections and expansion
Four analog inputs support linear 0–5V sensors and NTC sensors. CANchecked in-house sensors are already defined in the TRI/TRX files and only need to be connected.
- AIN1: Temperature sensor (NTC01)
- AIN2: Type K exhaust gas temperature converter (TCC01)
- AIN3: 0–10 bar pressure sensor (FLP01)
- AIN4: 0–5.5 bar absolute boost pressure sensor (BST10)
An optional pre-assembled AIN wiring harness can be used for connection.
An external shift light with eight LEDs can be connected; colours and speed limits are configurable on the display.
An ethanol sensor connects directly to the display; a 10K pull-up resistor is required between 5V and the signal. Ethanol content and temperature can be displayed and logged.
Advanced functions
- Math-Channels: Calculate sensors from other sensor values.
- User-Table: Create additional sensors using 2D or 3D maps.
