For high-powered engines, Radium Competition Catch Cans (CCC) offer a significantly larger capacity compared to standard Radium catch cans, available in large (L) and extra-large (XL) versions. The XL CCC meets the common 1 quart minimum capacity requirements set by various organizing bodies, including SCCA, NASA, and Formula Drift.
FEATURES
This iteration of the competition catch cans allows for two plumbing configurations: vent to atmosphere (VTA) and vent to engine (VTE).
Vent to Atmosphere (VTA): The competition catch can is pre-configured to vent to atmosphere. The outlet is over 183% larger than the inner diameter of the 10AN inlets, which slows airflow and allows vapors to fall out of suspension. Contaminants are trapped with a diffuser, allowing oil sludge to return to the catch can and preventing excessive overspray in the engine bay.
Vent to Engine (VTE): This setup allows purified air to recirculate back into the intake system. By removing the top three screws, the VTA plate can be replaced with the VTE plate and gasket, converting the catch can to a dual inlet/dual outlet configuration.
In the VTE setup, the top ports (pink) and side ports (yellow) can be used interchangeably, allowing for flexible inlet and outlet configurations.
- When the throttle is open, the PCV valve closes, creating vacuum in the intake pipe.
- The Radium Engineering PCV valve (sold separately) must flow towards the intake manifold (vacuum).
- An OEM PCV valve can only be used if it is installed on the intake manifold from the factory. If mounted on the breather port (valve cover), a PCV valve must be installed on the CCC.
The PCV valve can be utilized with a VTE catch can to maintain negative pressure in the crankcase at all times.
CONSTRUCTION
The CNC machined aluminum can is designed for easy serviceability, featuring a dual-stage condensing material design in the inlet and outlet that does not create flow restrictions. A threaded 4AN ORB port is integrated at the bottom for plumbing a petcock drain valve. The included bracket allows for full 360-degree rotation, and M6x1mm hardware is provided for chassis mounting. All ports are machined with 10AN ORB (7/8"-14) threads, and any unnecessary ports can be plugged using part number 14-0351.
NOTES
- The lower half of the body unscrews for draining.
- The integrated dipstick unscrews for quick oil level checks.
- Sold without fittings.
- Catch cans are not designed for use with aftermarket crankcase vacuum pumps.
