CANchecked MFD15 Gen2 Display for VW up! (LHD/RHD)

The CANchecked MFD15 Gen2 is a compact 52 mm OLED display designed to keep key ECU and sensor data in view. The OLED offers strong readability even in direct sunlight. Operation is via two windshield-mounted push buttons, with an optional external rotary knob available.

• Compact packaging: 52 mm diameter, 12.5 mm depth; compatible with common 52 mm interior bezels (even without a vehicle-specific holder).

• CAN bus & diagnostics: supports CAN bus ECUs, OBD2 (from 2008), and in-depth VW/Audi data (from 2008). Custom CAN streams supported.
• WLAN setup: connect to a smartphone or PC for configuration via Web UI (oDSS).
• Sensor inputs: up to 6 analog inputs (linear 0–5 V and NTC). Optional direct ethanol sensor connection with license.
• Alarms: preset alarms can be enabled and customized (e.g., alert for high EGT above 900 °C).

• Online logging (license): log via smartphone/PC and save for later analysis.
• Flex Fuel (license): display ethanol content and fuel temperature.
• CAN switching & AIN forwarding (license): control CAN switches with the display buttons/rotary knob and forward analog input readings onto CAN.

oDSS (Online DSS) via WLAN

WLAN access allows setup from a smartphone or PC. With oDSS you can configure the display, upload a startup image, update the display, and log values (license required).

Supported values, standards & ECU coverage

The MFD15 Gen2 is compatible with ISO 11898-2 and SAE J2284. Available values depend on what the ECU transmits on CAN; documentation (including DBC files) can be used and imported via DSS. Depending on the manufacturer, up to 64 sensors can be queried.

OBD2 queries via CAN (11-bit/29-bit) are implemented. Vehicle-specific protocols such as UDS or TP2 are also available.

If your ECU is not listed, TRI/TRX files can be downloaded or requested from the database.

For VW/Audi vehicles from model year 2008, protocol-based in-depth data is available, including values such as oil temperature, boost pressure, transmission temperature, cylinder-selective ignition angle return, high/low pressure, wastegate actuation, and more.

Internal LED (shift light / warning)

The internal LED can be configured as a shift light with up to 8 colors, speed limits, and a user-defined start point for flashing.

As a warning LED, you can set minimum and maximum limits per sensor in oDSS (“Sensors”) and enable LED warning. If a sensor exceeds the set limits, the LED flashes in the configured color; shift-light mode is disabled during the warning.

Installation, connections & expansion

Six analog inputs support linear 0–5 V sensors and NTC sensors.

CANchecked display sensor presets stored in TRI/TRX files (default mapping):

• AIN1: Temperature sensor
• AIN2: Type K exhaust gas temperature transducer
• AIN3: Pressure sensor 0–10 bar
• AIN4: Boost pressure sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute

A pre-assembled 4-way AIN harness can be used for connection. With the appropriate license, an ethanol sensor can be connected directly to the display via a separate pin.

Additional licenses

Live Logging

Enables logging of sensor data into oDSS, downloadable to a smartphone or PC. Note: for OBD and UDS, only the currently displayed sensors are logged.

Flex Fuel ethanol sensor (direct to MFD15 Gen2)

Allows direct connection of an ethanol sensor to the display. A 10 kΩ pull-up resistor is required between 5 V and the signal. Displays ethanol content and fuel temperature and supports logging.

CAN Switching & AIN forwarding

Enables switching CAN switches using the display buttons or rotary knob and forwarding analog input voltages to the CAN bus.
