CANchecked MFD15 Gen2 Display for MINI R56 (LHD/RHD)

The CANchecked MFD15 Gen2 is a compact OLED display designed to keep key engine and vehicle data in view. The OLED screen remains readable even in direct sunlight. With a 52 mm outer diameter and only 12.5 mm depth, it fits common interior bezels. Control is via two windshield-mounted push buttons, with an optional rotary knob available.

Online DSS (oDSS) via WLAN

The MFD15 Gen2 can be accessed over WLAN for setup via smartphone or PC. Using oDSS you can fully configure the display, upload a startup image, perform updates, and log values (logging requires a license).

Supported values and protocols

The MFD15 Gen2 is compatible with ISO 11898-2 and SAE J2284. Available data depends on what the ECU transmits on the CAN bus; DBC documentation can be imported via DSS. Depending on the manufacturer, up to 64 sensors can be queried.

OBD2 queries over CAN (11-bit/29-bit) are supported, and vehicle-specific protocols such as UDS and TP2 are available.

If an ECU is not listed, the appropriate TRI/TRX can be downloaded or requested from the database.

For VW/Audi from model year 2008, in-depth protocol-based queries are available, including values such as oil temperature, boost pressure, transmission temperature, cylinder-selective ignition angle return, high/low pressure, wastegate actuation, and more.

Internal LED (shift light / warning)

The internal LED can be configured as a shift light or as a warning LED.

• Shift light: up to 8 colors, speed limits, and a start point for flashing
• Warning LED: per-sensor min/max thresholds set in oDSS; when a threshold is exceeded, the LED flashes in the selected color and shift-light operation is suspended during the warning

Connections and expansion

Six analog inputs support linear 0–5 V and NTC sensors. CANchecked sensor presets are stored in TRI/TRX files by default.

Default analog input assignments:

• AIN1: Temperature sensor
• AIN2: Type K EGT transducer (0–1250°C capable via listed accessory)
• AIN3: Pressure sensor 0–10 bar
• AIN4: Boost pressure sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute
• AIN5: Not preconfigured
• AIN6: Not preconfigured

A pre-assembled 4-way AIN harness can be used for sensor connection. With the appropriate license, an ethanol sensor can be connected directly via a separate pin.

Additional licenses

Live Logging

With the Live Logging license, the display can log sensor data into oDSS and the log can be downloaded to a smartphone or PC. All sensors are logged, but for OBD and UDS only the currently displayed sensors are logged.

Flex Fuel ethanol sensor (direct to MFD15 Gen2)

With the ethanol sensor license, an ethanol sensor can be connected directly to the display. A 10K pull-up resistor is required between 5 V and signal. Ethanol content and fuel temperature can be displayed and logged.

CAN switching and AIN forwarding

With the CAN Switching and AIN Forwarding license, the display buttons or the rotary knob can be used to switch CAN functions and forward analog input voltages onto the CAN bus.
