CANchecked MFD15 Gen2 Display for Ford Mustang MK6

The MFD15 Gen2 is a compact 52 mm OLED display designed to keep key engine and vehicle data in view. The OLED panel remains easy to read even in direct sunlight. Thanks to its 52 mm outer diameter, it fits common interior gauge bezels, even without a vehicle-specific holder. Control is handled by two windshield-mounted push buttons, with an optional rotary knob available.

Key features

  • Compact design: 52 mm diameter, 12.5 mm depth
  • Shift light / warning LED: Front LED can be configured as a shift light and/or warning LED
  • CAN bus support: Supports CAN bus ECUs, OBD2 from 2008, in-depth VW/Audi values from 2008, or user-built CAN streams
  • WLAN setup: Connect via WLAN to a smartphone or PC and configure through the Web UI
  • Additional inputs: Up to 6 analog sensors, or an ethanol sensor (license required) directly to the display
  • Preset alarms: Activate and customize predefined alarms (example: exhaust gas temperature warning above 900 degrees)
  • Customization: Custom startup logo and background image
  • Online logging: Data logging via smartphone or PC (license required)
  • Flex Fuel: Display ethanol content and temperature (license required)
  • CAN switching: Use display buttons/rotary knob to switch CAN switches and forward analog input readings to CAN (license required)

Display layouts (pages)

Select up to eight pages and tailor the layout to your setup:

  • Analog pointer
  • Double value
  • Gear indicator
  • 4-fold values
  • 6-fold values
  • Bar + double display
  • Round display
  • Bar graph (double across)
  • Performance Meter
  • Bar chart (1–6-fold upright)
  • Single value

Online DSS (oDSS) via WLAN

The MFD15 Gen2 can be accessed over WLAN for setup via smartphone or PC. With oDSS you can configure the display, upload a startup image, update the display, and log values (license required).

Supported values and protocols

The MFD15 Gen2 is compatible with ISO 11898-2 and SAE J2284. Available ECU values depend on what the ECU transmits via CAN and may be defined through documentation such as DBC files (importable via DSS). Depending on the manufacturer, up to 64 sensors can be queried.

OBD2 queries via CAN (11-bit/29-bit) are implemented, and vehicle-specific protocols such as UDS or TP2 are available.

Included by default:

  • OBD2 (11-bit and 29-bit)
  • Ecumaster (Classic and Black)
  • VAG PQ34
  • Haltech v2
  • LinkECU
  • MaxxECU
  • Motec M1
  • Emtron
  • Megasquirt 2 and 3

If the desired ECU is not listed, the appropriate TRI/TRX can be downloaded or requested from the database.

For VW/Audi vehicles from model year 2008, in-depth protocol-based data is supported, including values such as oil temperature, boost pressure, transmission temperature, cylinder selective ignition angle return, high/low pressure, wastegate actuation, and more.

Internal LED (shift light / warning)

The internal LED can be used as a shift light and/or a warning LED.

  • Shift light: Configure up to 8 colors and RPM limits, plus a start point at which it begins flashing.
  • Warning LED: Set sensor-specific minimum and maximum thresholds in oDSS under “Sensors” and enable “LED”. If a value goes above the max or below the min, the LED flashes in the configured color. During a warning, shift-light mode is disabled.

Connection and expansion

Six analog inputs support linear 0–5 V sensors and NTC sensors. A separate pin can be used to connect an ethanol sensor directly to the display (license required).

What’s included

  • MFD15 Gen2 display
  • Connector B (6-way)
  • Connector C (12-way)
  • 20 cm pre-crimped connection cables for power supply, CAN bus, analog inputs, 5 V, and sensor ground
  • Pins to crimp yourself
  • Two 1 kΩ resistors (NTC pull-up)
  • Car-specific air vent bezel
  • OBD connection cable

Preconfigured analog inputs (CANchecked sensors)

CANchecked display sensors are stored in the TRI/TRX files by default and only need to be connected:

  • AIN1: Temperature sensor
  • AIN2: Type K exhaust gas temperature transducer
  • AIN3: Pressure sensor 0–10 bar
  • AIN4: Boost pressure sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute
  • AIN5: Not preconfigured
  • AIN6: Not preconfigured

A pre-assembled 4-way AIN harness can be used for connection.

Optional accessories

  • CC22501 ETK01: External rotary knob with PnP 50 cm connection cable
  • CC22100 CBD08: 8-way CAN distribution hub
  • CC22902 NTC01: Temperature sensor for liquids, 1/8" NPT
  • CC22903 TCC01: Type K transducer, 0–1250 °C
  • CC22901 FLP01: Pressure sensor 0–10 bar (145 psi), M10x1
  • CC22900 BST01: Pressure sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute (80 psi)

Additional licenses

Live Logging (MFD15 Gen2)

With the “Live Logging” license, the display can log sensor data into oDSS and the log can be downloaded to a smartphone or PC.

Note: For OBD and UDS, only the currently displayed sensors are logged.

Flex Fuel ethanol sensor directly on the MFD15 Gen2

With the ethanol sensor license, a sensor can be connected directly to the display. A 10 kΩ pull-up resistor is required between 5 V and signal. Ethanol content and fuel temperature can be displayed and logged.

CAN Switching and AIN forwarding

With the CAN Switching/AIN forwarding license, the display buttons or rotary knob can be used to switch CAN switches and forward analog input voltages to the CAN bus.
