CANchecked MFD15 Gen2 Display for Audi A3 8V

The CANchecked MFD15 Gen2 is a compact OLED gauge-style display designed to keep key vehicle data in view. The OLED screen is readable even in direct sunlight, and the 52 mm outer diameter fits common interior bezels (even without a vehicle-specific holder). Operation is via two windshield-mounted push buttons or an optional rotary knob.

oDSS (Online DSS) via WLAN

The MFD15 Gen2 can be accessed over WLAN for setup using a smartphone or PC. With oDSS you can configure the display, upload a startup image, update the unit, and (with license) log values.

Supported data sources and protocols

The MFD15 Gen2 is compatible with ISO 11898-2 and SAE J2284. Which ECU values are available depends on what the ECU transmits on CAN; documentation (for example a DBC file) can be imported via DSS. Depending on the manufacturer, up to 64 sensors can be queried.

OBD2 via CAN (11-bit/29-bit) is implemented, and vehicle-specific protocols such as UDS and TP2 are available.

If an ECU is not listed, the appropriate TRI/TRX can be downloaded or requested from the database.

For VW/Audi vehicles from model year 2008, in-depth protocol-based queries are supported, including values such as oil temperature, boost pressure, transmission temperature, cylinder-selective ignition angle retard, high/low pressure, wastegate actuation, and more.

Internal LED (shift light / warning)

The internal LED can be configured as a shift light or as a warning LED.

• Shift light: up to 8 colors, speed limits, and a configurable flash start point
• Warning LED: per-sensor min/max limits configured in oDSS; LED flashes in the selected color when out of range (shift light is disabled during a warning)

Six analog inputs support linear 0–5 V sensors and NTC sensors. CANchecked sensor presets are stored in the TRI/TRX files and can be used by simply connecting the sensors:

• AIN1: temperature sensor
• AIN2: type K EGT transducer
• AIN3: pressure sensor 0–10 bar
• AIN4: boost pressure sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute
• AIN5: not preconfigured
• AIN6: not preconfigured

A pre-assembled 4-way AIN harness can be used for connection. With the appropriate license, an ethanol sensor can be connected directly via a separate pin.

Additional licenses

Live Logging

With the Live Logging license, the display can log sensor data in oDSS and the log file can be downloaded to a smartphone or PC. All sensors are logged; for OBD and UDS, only the currently displayed sensors are logged.

Flex Fuel (ethanol sensor direct to display)

With the ethanol sensor license, an ethanol sensor can be connected directly to the display. A 10 kΩ pull-up resistor between 5 V and signal is required. Ethanol content and fuel temperature can be displayed and logged.

CAN Switching and AIN forwarding

With the CAN Switching and AIN forwarding license, the display buttons or rotary knob can switch CAN switches and send analog input voltages onto the CAN bus.
