CANchecked MFD15 Gen2 Conversion Kit for Mazda MX-5 / Miata NA (Oil Pressure Gauge Replacement)

This vehicle-specific conversion kit replaces the factory oil pressure gauge with a CANchecked MFD15 Gen2 display. It installs into the original dashboard location without cutting.

Online Access (oDSS via WLAN)

The MFD15 Gen2 can be accessed over WLAN for setup via smartphone or PC. Through oDSS you can configure the display, upload a startup image, perform updates, and (with the appropriate license) log values.

CAN Compatibility & Supported Values

The MFD15 Gen2 is compatible with ISO 11898-2 and SAE J2284. Which values are available depends on what the ECU transmits via CAN; documentation (for example a DBC file) is used for implementation. Depending on the manufacturer, up to 64 sensors can be queried.

Internal LED (Shift Light / Warning)

The internal LED can be used as both a shift light and a warning LED.

• Shift light: up to 8 colors and RPM thresholds can be assigned, including a configurable flash point.
• Warning LED: per-sensor min/max thresholds can be configured in oDSS; if a value is outside the limits the LED flashes in the selected color. During a warning, the shift light function is disabled.

Connections & Expansion

Six analog inputs are available for sensors (linear 0–5V and NTC supported). CANchecked sensors are pre-configured in TRI/TRX files and only need to be connected:

• AIN2: Converter for Type K Exhaust Gas Temperature Probe
• AIN3: Pressure Sensor 0–10 bar
• AIN4: Boost Pressure Sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute
• AIN5: Not pre-configured
• AIN6: Not pre-configured

A pre-assembled 4-fold AIN harness can be used for connection. With the appropriate license, an ethanol sensor can be connected directly to the display using a separate pin.

Live Logging

Logs sensor data into oDSS and allows download to a smartphone or PC. Note: for OBD and UDS, only the currently displayed sensors are logged.

Flex Fuel (Ethanol Sensor Direct to MFD15 Gen2)

Allows direct connection of an ethanol sensor to the display. A 10K pull-up resistor is required between 5V and signal. Ethanol content and fuel temperature can be viewed and logged.

CAN Switching and AIN Forwarding

Enables switching CAN functions via the display buttons or external knob and sending analog input voltages onto the CAN bus.

Installation

The conversion is performed by the customer. Installation instructions can be downloaded in advance.
