CANchecked MFD32 Gen2 for VW Passat B8 (Typ 3G)

The MFD32 Gen2 replaces the factory air vent with a vent-integrated data display, keeping airflow functional while putting live vehicle data in your line of sight. Designed for straightforward installation, with illustrated instructions available for most variants.

Setup software (DSS)

DSS is used to configure pages, manage sensors, and review logs. It includes a log viewer, a CAN logger, and a TRI editor for sensor naming and warning min/max limits (for both CAN Bus and internal channels).

ECU data and supported protocols

The display supports ECU data query via CAN Bus (UDS, TP2, manufacturer-specific protocols) and via K-Line (ISO 9141). It is supplied with predefined TRI/TRX files that define which sensors are queried (varies by engine). Missing values can be added later.

• Exhaust temperature, coolant temperature, oil temperature, intake temperature, outside temperature, gasoline temperature, DSG temperature

• Boost pressure, ambient pressure, fuel pressure (pre-feed pump), rail pressure (actual/target)

• Lambda value, injection time, short-term lambda adjustment, long-term lambda adjustment

Other

• RPM, air mass, vehicle speed, throttle angle, total ignition angle, ignition angle retraction per cylinder, N75 timing (%), terminal 30 voltage, torque, gear, diesel-specific values

Connection and expansion

Four analog inputs support linear 0–5 V sensors and NTC sensors. Supported CANchecked sensors are included in the TRI/TRX files by default and only need to be connected:

• AIN1: Temperature sensor (NTC01)
• AIN2: Type K exhaust gas temperature converter (TCC01)
• AIN3: Pressure sensor 0–10 bar (FLP01)
• AIN4: Boost pressure sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute (BST01)

An optional pre-assembled AIN wiring harness can be used for connection.

An external 8-LED shift light can be connected, with configurable colours and speed limits directly on the display.

An ethanol sensor connects directly to the display and can be logged and displayed along with ethanol temperature (requires a 10 kΩ pull-up resistor between 5 V and signal).

Advanced functions

Math Channels allow calculations between sensors. User Table enables additional sensors using 2D or 3D maps.
