CANchecked MFD32 Gen2 Vent Display for BMW 5 Series (G30/G31/G38/F90)
The MFD32 Gen2 replaces the factory air-vent insert with a vehicle-specific display solution, keeping key data in your line of sight while still allowing airflow around the bezel. Illustrated installation instructions are available for most versions, making DIY installation straightforward.

Display Setup Software (DSS)
DSS is used to fully configure the display, download and view log files, and use the integrated CAN logger. The integrated TRI Editor lets you manage sensors (CAN Bus or internal), including renaming sensors and setting minimum/maximum warning thresholds.
Supported values and vehicle data access
The display supports CAN Bus data queries (UDS, TP2, manufacturer-specific protocols) and K-Line queries (ISO 9141). It ships with predefined TRI/TRX files that define the sensors queried, which vary by engine. Examples of available channels include:
Temperatures
- Exhaust temperature, coolant temperature, oil temperature, intake temperature, outside temperature, gasoline temperature, DSG temperature
Pressures
- Boost pressure, ambient pressure, fuel pressure (pre-feed pump), rail pressure (actual/target)
Lambda / mixture
- Lambda value, injection time, short-term lambda adjustment, long-term lambda adjustment
Other
- RPM, air mass, vehicle speed, throttle angle, total ignition angle, ignition angle retraction per cylinder, N75 timing (%), terminal 30 voltage, torque, gear, diesel-specific values
If values are missing, they can be added later.
Connections and expansion
Four analog inputs support both linear 0–5V sensors and NTC sensors. CANchecked sensors are stored in the TRI/TRX files by default and only need to be connected:
- AIN1: Temperature sensor (NTC01)
- AIN2: Type K exhaust gas temperature converter (TCC01)
- AIN3: Pressure sensor 0–10 bar (FLP01)
- AIN4: Boost pressure sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute (BST01)
A pre-assembled AIN wiring harness can be used for the connection.
An external shift light with eight LEDs can be connected; colors and speed limits are configurable directly on the display.
An ethanol sensor connects directly to the display and requires a 10K pull-up resistor between 5V and the signal. Ethanol content and temperature can be displayed and logged.
Advanced functions
Math-Channels allow sensor calculations. The User-Table can generate additional sensors using 2D or 3D maps.
