CANchecked MFD28 Gen2 for VW Golf MK4 (Typ 1J) vFL

The CANchecked MFD28 Gen2 replaces an air vent with a vehicle-specific display that stays neatly integrated while still allowing airflow. Designed for straightforward installation, with illustrated instructions available for many variants.

Display Setup Software (DSS)

CANchecked DSS is used to customize pages and sensors, download and view log files, and use the integrated CAN logger. The integrated TRI Editor lets you edit sensor names and set min/max warning thresholds for CAN bus and internal sensors.

Supported ECU values

The display supports CAN bus data queries (UDS, TP2, and manufacturer-specific protocols). It is supplied with predefined TRI/TRX files that define which sensors are queried (varies by engine). Examples include:

Temperatures

• Exhaust temperature, coolant temperature, oil temperature, intake temperature, outside temperature, gasoline temperature, DSG temperature

Pressures

• Boost pressure, ambient pressure, fuel pressure (pre-feed pump), rail pressure (actual/target)

Lambda / mixture

• Lambda value, injection time, short-term lambda adjustment, long-term lambda adjustment

Other

• RPM, air mass, vehicle speed, throttle angle, total ignition angle, ignition angle retraction per cylinder, N75 timing (%), terminal 30 voltage, torque, gear, diesel-specific values

If values are missing, they can be added later.

Connection and expansion

Four analog inputs support linear 0–5V and NTC sensors. CANchecked in-house sensors are stored in the TRI/TRX files by default and only need to be connected:

• AIN1: Temperature sensor (NTC01)
• AIN2: Type K exhaust gas temperature converter (TCC01)
• AIN3: Pressure sensor 0–10 bar (FLP01)
• AIN4: Boost pressure sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute (BST10)

A pre-assembled AIN wiring harness can be used for connection.

An external shift light with eight LEDs can also be connected; colors and speed limits are configurable on the display.

An ethanol sensor connects directly to the display. A 10K pull-up resistor is required between 5V and the signal to view and log ethanol content and temperature.

Advanced functions

Math-Channels allow calculated values from sensors. The User-Table can generate additional sensors using 2D or 3D maps.
