CANchecked MFD28 Gen2 for Toyota GR86 2
The CANchecked MFD28 Gen2 replaces an air vent with a vehicle-specific display solution that keeps airflow functional while adding a dedicated data screen. Designed for straightforward installation, with illustrated instructions available for most applications.
Key features
- Vehicle-specific integration: Bezel design still allows airflow past the display
- CAN bus data: In-depth vehicle data readout similar to manufacturer diagnostic tools
- Gear display: Via CAN bus or calculated from speed and RPM
- Touchscreen operation: Page navigation with swipe gestures
- Page customization: Create your own pages, add pictures, or use a start animation
- Inputs: Up to 4 analog inputs plus direct ethanol sensor support
- CAN switching: Use the display as a keypad and send custom CAN messages
- Configurable alarms: Custom warnings (e.g., alert when exhaust gas temperature exceeds 900 degrees)
- Logging: Save data to the internal SD card for later analysis
- Performance meter: Measure 0–100, 100–200, and 0–200 without additional hardware
- DTC*: Read and clear faults for engine ECU, transmission, ABS, and all-wheel drive
- Dimming*: Automatic dimming with the instrument panel
Pages and views
- Delivered with predefined sample pages
- Create custom pages (up to 10 pages)
- 20 widget types (e.g., sensor value, analogue pointer, YT diagram, speed bar, round display, vertical/horizontal bar)
- Drag-and-drop positioning with scalable widgets
- Fully adjustable widget colors
- Up to 64 widgets per page
Display Setup Software (DSS)
DSS enables full display customization and includes a log viewer and CAN logger. The integrated TRI Editor lets you adjust sensors (CAN bus or internal), set min/max warning thresholds, and rename sensors.
Supported values (ECU)
The display supports CAN bus data query (UDS, TP2, manufacturer-specific protocols) and K-Line (ISO 9141). It is supplied with predefined TRI/TRX files that define which sensors are queried (varies by engine). Example values include:
Temperatures
- Exhaust temperature, coolant temperature, oil temperature, intake temperature, outside temperature, gasoline temperature, DSG temperature
Pressures
- Boost pressure, ambient pressure, fuel pressure (pre-feed pump), rail pressure (actual/target)
Lambda / mixture
- Lambda value, injection time, short-term lambda adjustment, long-term lambda adjustment
Other
- RPM, air mass, vehicle speed, throttle angle, total ignition angle, ignition angle retraction per cylinder, N75 timing (%), terminal 30 voltage, torque, gear, diesel-specific values
If values are missing, they can be added later.
Scope of delivery
- MFD28 Gen2 data display integrated in the ventilation insert (LHD & RHD vehicles)
- Vehicle-specific connection cable
- Quickstart guide
- USB data cable
- SD card (pre-installed in the display)
- SD card adapter
- Display foil (to reduce reflections)
Connection and expansion
Four analog inputs support linear 0–5 V and NTC sensors. CANchecked sensors are included in the TRI/TRX definitions by default and only need to be connected:
- AIN1: Temperature sensor (NTC01)
- AIN2: Type K exhaust gas temperature converter (TCC01)
- AIN3: Pressure sensor 0–10 bar (FLP01)
- AIN4: Boost pressure sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute (BST01)
A pre-assembled AIN wiring harness can be used for connection.
An external shift light with eight LEDs can also be connected. Flash colors, speed limits, and colors are configurable directly on the display.
The ethanol sensor connects directly to the display. A 10K pull-up resistor between 5 V and the signal is required to view and log ethanol content and temperature.
Advanced functions
Math-Channels allow calculations between sensors. User-Table enables additional sensors using 2D or 3D maps.
Optional accessories
- CC24000 SLM08 - external switching lightning module
- CC22780 ANC04 - four-way AIN harness
