CANchecked MFD28 Gen2 for Seat Leon/Cupra 5F (5F) — Vent-Integrated Data Display
The MFD28 Gen2 replaces the center air-vent insert with a vehicle-specific display solution designed for Seat Leon/Cupra 5F. The bezel remains vented so airflow can still pass the display. Installation is intended to be achievable without a workshop; illustrated instructions are available for most applications.
Key features
- OEM-style integration: Vehicle-specific bezel keeps the vent functional.
- CAN Bus data: Access in-depth vehicle data similar to manufacturer diagnostic tools.
- Gear display: Via CAN Bus or calculated from speed and RPM.
- Touchscreen control: Page navigation with swipe gestures.
- Custom pages: Build your own layouts; add pictures or a start animation.
- Extra inputs: Up to 4 analog inputs plus direct ethanol sensor support.
- CAN switching: Use the display as a keypad and send custom CAN messages.
- Configurable alarms: Set min/max thresholds and warning behavior (e.g., warning above 900 degrees exhaust temperature).
- Data logging: Save logs to the internal SD card for later review.
- Performance meter: Measure 0–100, 100–200, and 0–200 times without extra hardware.
- DTC*: Read and clear faults from engine ECU, transmission, ABS, and all-wheel drive.
- Dimming*: Automatic dimming with the instrument panel.
Pages and layouts
- Delivered with sample pages preloaded.
- Create and edit your own pages (up to 10 pages).
- Up to 64 widgets per page.
- 20 widget types (e.g., sensor value, analogue pointer, YT diagram, speed bar, round display, vertical/horizontal bar).
- Drag-and-drop positioning with scalable widget sizes.
- Widget colors fully adjustable.
Display Setup Software (DSS)
DSS is used to configure the display, manage layouts, and work with logs. It includes a log viewer, an integrated CAN logger, and a TRI editor for sensor management (CAN Bus or internal), including sensor naming and min/max warning thresholds.
Supported data and protocols
The display supports CAN Bus data queries (UDS, TP2, manufacturer-specific protocols) and K-Line (ISO 9141). It is supplied with predefined TRI/TRX files that define which sensors are queried; available channels vary by engine. If values are missing, they can be added later.
Examples of supported values
Temperatures
- Exhaust temperature, coolant temperature, oil temperature, intake temperature, outside temperature, gasoline temperature, DSG temperature
Pressures
- Boost pressure, ambient pressure, fuel pressure (pre-feed pump), rail pressure (actual/target)
Lambda/mixture
- Lambda value, injection time, short-term lambda adjustment, long-term lambda adjustment
Other
- RPM, air mass, vehicle speed, throttle angle, total ignition angle, ignition angle retraction per cylinder, N75 timing (%), terminal 30 voltage, torque, gear, diesel-specific values
Connections and expansion
Four analog inputs support linear 0–5V sensors and NTC sensors. CANchecked in-house sensors are already defined in the TRI/TRX files and only need to be connected.
- AIN1: Temperature sensor (NTC01)
- AIN2: Type K exhaust gas temperature transducer (TCC01)
- AIN3: Pressure sensor 0–10 bar (FLP01)
- AIN4: Boost pressure sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute (BST01)
A pre-assembled AIN wiring harness is available for the analog inputs.
An external shift light with eight LEDs can be connected; colors and shift thresholds are configured on the display.
An ethanol sensor connects directly to the display. A 10K pull-up resistor is required between 5V and the signal. Ethanol content and temperature can be displayed and logged.
Advanced functions
- Math channels: Calculate channels using other sensor values.
- User table: Create additional channels using 2D or 3D maps.
