CANchecked MFD15 Gen2 CAN Data Display Kit for VW Golf MK3
The CANchecked MFD15 Gen2 is a compact OLED data display supplied as a vehicle-specific kit for the VW Golf MK3, including a matching bezel and connection kit. Operation is via the two front push buttons; an optional external rotary knob can also be connected.

Configuration (oDSS via WiFi)
The MFD15 Gen2 can be accessed via WiFi for setup on a smartphone or PC. With oDSS you can fully configure pages and sensors, upload a startup image, update the device, and log values (logging requires a license).
CAN/OBD2 compatibility and supported ECUs
The MFD15 Gen2 is compatible with ISO 11898-2 and SAE J2284. Actual ECU data availability depends on what the ECU transmits on CAN; DBC-based definitions can be imported via DSS. Depending on the manufacturer, up to 64 sensors can be queried.
OBD2 via CAN (11-bit/29-bit) is supported, and vehicle-specific protocols such as UDS or TP2 are available.

If a desired ECU is not listed, the appropriate TRI/TRX can be downloaded or requested from the database.
For VAG vehicles from model year 2008 (in some cases older), in-depth protocol-based queries are available for values such as oil temperature, boost pressure, transmission temperature, cylinder-selective ignition angle return, high/low pressure, wastegate actuation, and more.
Integrated LED (shift light / warning)
The built-in LED can be configured as:
- Shift light: up to 8 colors, RPM thresholds, and a configurable flash point
- Warning LED: min/max limits per sensor; LED flashes in the configured color when out of range (shift light is disabled while a warning is active)
Analog inputs and sensor presets
Six analog inputs are available, supporting linear 0–5 V and NTC sensors. CANchecked sensor curves are stored on the display by default for plug-and-play use with the following assignments:
- AIN1: Temperature sensor (NTC01)
- AIN2: Type K EGT transducer (TCC01)
- AIN3: Pressure sensor 0–10 bar (FLP01)
- AIN4: Boost pressure sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute (BST01)
- AIN5: Not preconfigured
- AIN6: Not preconfigured
A pre-assembled 4-way AIN harness can be used for connection.

Additional licenses (optional)
Live Logging
With the “Live Logging” license, the display can log sensor data into oDSS and export logs to a smartphone or PC. Note: for OBD and UDS, only the currently displayed sensors are logged.
Flex Fuel (ethanol sensor directly to the MFD15 Gen2)
With the ethanol sensor license, an ethanol sensor can be wired directly to the display. A 10K pull-up resistor is required between 5 V and the signal. Ethanol content and fuel temperature can be displayed and logged.
CAN switching and AIN forwarding
With the CAN switching/AIN forwarding license, the display buttons or the rotary knob can switch CAN switches and forward analog input voltages onto the CAN bus.
