CANchecked MFD15 Gen2 Data Display Kit for VW Golf MK3

This vehicle-specific MFD15 Gen2 kit for the VW Golf MK3 is designed to keep key engine and vehicle data visible at a glance. The OLED screen remains easy to read in direct sunlight. The kit includes a vehicle-specific bezel and connection kit, and is operated via two front push buttons (optional external rotary knob supported).

Setup via oDSS (Online Display Setup Software)

WiFi access allows full setup from a smartphone or PC. oDSS is used to configure pages and sensors, upload a startup image, and update the display. Logging in oDSS requires a license*.

ECU communication and supported protocols

The MFD15 Gen2 is compatible with ISO 11898-2 and SAE J2284. Available ECU values depend on what the ECU transmits on CAN; documentation (including DBC files) can be used and imported via DSS. Depending on the ECU manufacturer, up to 64 sensors can be queried.

OBD2 queries via CAN (11bit/29bit) are supported, and vehicle-specific protocols such as UDS and TP2 are available.

If an ECU is not listed, the appropriate TRI/TRX can be downloaded or requested from the database.

For VAG vehicles from model year 2008 (and in some cases older), in-depth protocol queries are available, including values such as oil temperature, boost pressure, transmission temperature, cylinder-selective ignition angle return, high/low pressure, wastegate actuation, and more.

Integrated LED (shift light / warning)

The internal LED can be used as either a shift light or a warning LED.

• Shift light: up to 8 colors, RPM limits, and configurable flash start point
• Warning LED: min/max thresholds per sensor; LED flashes in the configured color when out of range (shift light disabled during the warning)

Analog inputs and sensor support

Six analog inputs support linear 0–5V and NTC sensors. Factory-stored characteristic curves provide plug-and-play operation with CANchecked sensors:

• AIN1: Temperature sensor (NTC01)
• AIN2: Type K EGT transducer (TCC01)
• AIN3: Pressure sensor 0–10 bar (FLP01)
• AIN4: Boost pressure sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute (BST01)
• AIN5: Not preconfigured
• AIN6: Not preconfigured

A pre-assembled 4-way AIN harness can be used for connection. With the appropriate license*, an ethanol sensor can be connected directly via a separate pin; a 10K pullup resistor between 5V and signal is required.

Live Logging

With the “Live Logging” license, sensor data can be logged into oDSS and downloaded to a smartphone or PC. For OBD and UDS, only currently displayed sensors are logged.

Flex Fuel (ethanol sensor direct to display)

With the ethanol sensor license, the sensor connects directly to the display. A 10K pullup resistor between 5V and signal is required. Ethanol content and fuel temperature can be displayed and logged.

CAN Switching and AIN forwarding

With the CAN Switching/AIN forwarding license, the display buttons or rotary knob can switch CAN functions and apply analog input voltages to the CAN bus.
