CANchecked MFA2.0 Gen2 Data Display Kit for VW Golf MK1/MK2

This vehicle-specific MFA2.0 Gen2 kit integrates into the OEM dash using the supplied bezel and connection kit. An OLED screen provides clear readability, including in direct sunlight. Operation is via the Gen1-style rotary knob.

WiFi setup with oDSS

The Gen2 display can be accessed via WiFi for setup on a smartphone or PC. Using oDSS, you can fully configure the display, upload a startup image, and update the device. Data logging in oDSS requires a license.

ECU, CAN, and OBD2 support

The display is compatible with ISO 11898-2 and SAE J2284. What you can request from the ECU depends on what the ECU transmits on CAN; documentation (including DBC files) can be used and imported via the setup software. Depending on the manufacturer, up to 64 sensors can be queried.

OBD2 queries via CAN (11bit/29bit) are implemented, and vehicle-specific protocols such as UDS and TP2 are available.

If your ECU is not listed, the appropriate TRI/TRX can be downloaded or requested from the database.

For many VAG vehicles from model year 2008 (and in some cases older), in-depth protocol-based values can be displayed, including examples such as oil temperature, boost pressure, transmission temperature, cylinder-selective ignition angle return, high/low pressure, and wastegate actuation.

Integrated LED (shift light / warning)

• Shift light mode: Up to 8 colors can be assigned, with RPM thresholds and a configurable flash point.
• Warning mode: Set per-sensor minimum and maximum limits; if exceeded, the LED flashes in the configured color. Shift light is disabled during a warning event.

Analog inputs and sensor support

Six analog inputs support linear 0–5V and NTC sensors.

Preconfigured CANchecked sensor curves (plug-and-play):

• AIN1: Temperature sensor (NTC01)
• AIN2: Type K EGT transducer (TCC01)
• AIN3: Pressure sensor 0–10 bar (FLP01)
• AIN4: Boost pressure sensor 0–5.5 bar absolute (BST01)
• AIN5: Not preconfigured
• AIN6: Not preconfigured

A pre-assembled 4-way AIN harness can be used for connection.

With the appropriate license, an ethanol sensor can be connected directly to the display via a separate pin.

Additional licenses

Live Logging

With the “Live Logging” license, the display logs sensor data into oDSS and the log can be downloaded to a smartphone or PC.

Note: For OBD and UDS, only the currently displayed sensors are logged.

Flex Fuel ethanol sensor (direct to display)

With the ethanol sensor license, an ethanol sensor can be connected directly. A 10K pull-up resistor is required between 5V and the signal. Ethanol content and fuel temperature can be displayed and logged.

CAN switching and AIN forwarding

With the CAN switching / AIN forwarding license, the display keys or rotary knob can be used to switch CAN functions and apply analog input voltages onto the CAN Bus.
