Auto Clay Regular
Our clay bars are designed to restore the factory smooth finish to paint finishes. They have received critical acclaim in the detailing industry for their durability, cost-effectiveness, and design. Auto Express Magazine has awarded the auto clay with their Best Clay Bar award for the last five years. In a recent test comparing clay cloths to clay bars, they concluded that bars were superior, with auto clay being the top choice.
Regular is recommended if the vehicle is heavily contaminated, has never been clay-barred before, or during hot summertime. All clay bars become firmer when cold and softer when warm.
Using a clay bar allows you to assess the degree of embedded metallic and brake dust debris on your paint surface. You can feel for the grittiness that these damaging particles impart. With Bilt-Hamber Clay Bars—regular, medium, or soft—you can effortlessly remove particles, leaving the paint glass-smooth. Claying will significantly improve the surface when lubricated with plenty of water and minimal pressure. The bar glides smoothly, making the process satisfying. The removal of contaminants allows subsequent paint care stages to progress more smoothly, as cleansers, waxes, and polishes glide across the surface more easily.
It is highly recommended to pre-treat the paint with Korrosol before using a clay bar. This high-activity cleaner effectively removes embedded metallic particles with a simple spray-on, rinse-off action. By removing these particles beforehand, the clay bar will last longer and focus on the remaining contamination.
How to use:
- Thoroughly wash your car to remove any loose dirt. Ensure that direct sunlight does not fall on the car’s surface, and work in a relatively cool area.
- Spray water on a small area of your car and rub the bar back and forth with light pressure. The clay should glide across the paint; keep the surface well-lubricated. The clay bar must not be used dry. Initially, you will hear the bar pulling particles away from the paint, but the noise will quickly diminish.
- After a few passes, rub your fingers over the area to check for remaining contamination. Continue until all contamination is removed, then wipe the clay residue off with a soft terrycloth towel. Work in small areas.
- You should see a reddish-brown residue on the clay bar, indicating successful removal of contaminants. If the clay bar becomes soiled, fold it over and continue using it. Do not use the clay bar if it has been dropped. The clay bar is effective for about four to five cleans on an average-sized car. Once the paint is clean, wax your car immediately.
Quick Guide:
- Run your fingers over your freshly washed and dried paintwork. Feel for a rough, gritty texture caused by embedded particles.
- If you can feel these particles, atomize a fine mist of clean tap water over a 2-3 square feet area.
- Glide the auto clay over the wet surface; properly lubricated clay will move effortlessly.
- You may hear the contamination at first, but this will quickly reduce as you move the bar back and forth. Keep the bar moving until the noise has gone.
