Water/Methanol Injection Controllers for High-Compression N/A and Boosted Gas Engines

AEM offers two water/methanol controller designs: Boost Dependent and Multi Input.

Controller Design

Both controllers use large, turn-resistant knobs with larger numbering to set start and full activation points. Covered status LED and test buttons add splash resistance. Each housing includes an integrated fuse and molded mounting tabs, plus an integrated plug that mates to the redesigned wiring harness positive-lock connector.

• Boost Dependent controller: molded-in barbed nipple for a boost hose and a wiring legend on the back.
• Multi Input controller: easy-to-remove plug covering programming dipswitches, with a rear legend for 0–5V and frequency-based settings.

Boost Safe Failsafe Output

Includes AEM’s “Boost Safe” injection failsafe output, which activates in the event of a short, loss of continuity, high or low voltage, or low fluid condition. This can be used for anything from a warning light to strategies such as pulling boost/ignition or switching fuel maps on a standalone ECU.

Simplified Wiring

The wiring harness is color-coded and terminated with a positive-lock connector. An integrated pump ground circuit simplifies wiring and helps prevent accidental pump activation from a short. An additional wire supports an optional on/off solenoid to stop fluid flow when the system is inactive.

Flow Control and Nozzles

AEM revised the controller’s flow control strategy for a more linear output to better match engine demand for charge-air cooling and detonation control. Each kit includes three resized injector nozzles for improved flow capability.

Low Fluid Level Sensor

A conductive low-level fluid sensor is integrated into the tank and uses a positive-lock connector with color-matched wiring to the harness. The design helps prevent incorrect readings due to debris interference.
