The ARP 202-5801 main stud kit is engineered for the Nissan 350Z VQ35 4-bolt applications. Designed to eliminate main cap walk and fretting, these main studs also protect the threads in your engine block. Each kit includes hardened, parallel-ground washers and high-quality nuts. Some versions accommodate windage tray mounting with specially designed standoff studs and serrated lock nuts for secure installation.
Manufactured from 8740 chrome moly steel, these studs are heat-treated in-house to achieve 190,000 psi tensile strength. Precision J-form threads are rolled after heat-treating, resulting in threads that are significantly stronger than standard fasteners.
ARP recommends main studs over bolts for improved torque accuracy and reduced block thread stress, which is particularly important for aluminum blocks. This design also contributes to easier engine assembly and ensures proper main cap alignment.
