ARP Main Studs for Chevrolet Gen III/LS Series Small Block, GMPP LSX Block

ARP main stud kits are designed to eliminate main cap walk and fretting while protecting the threads in your engine block. Each kit includes hardened parallel-ground washers and high-quality nuts. Select applications feature provisions for mounting windage trays with specially designed standoff studs and serrated lock nuts for secure tray positioning.

The studs are manufactured from 8740 chrome moly steel, heat-treated in-house to a tensile strength of 190,000 psi. Precision J-form threads are rolled after heat-treat, resulting in threads that are substantially stronger than standard fasteners.

Using main studs instead of bolts allows for more accurate torque readings, as studs do not twist into the block. This places all clamping forces on one axis and reduces stress on block threads, which is particularly critical for aluminum blocks. Additionally, main studs simplify engine assembly and ensure proper cap alignment every time.
